Cubase VSTbridge issue fix

Are you launching Cubase 6 on Mac OS X 10.7 and getting the message, “You cannot open the application VSTbridgeapp”?  I know how frustrating this can be – a lot of my clients call and have issues with Cubase which are stopping them from making music on their computer.

Here is a quick fix to get you back up and running.

Make sure that Cubase is not running, then go to Finder and browse to Applications.
Cmd-click (or right-click) the Cubase 5.app file and select “Show package contents”.
Browse into folder Contents/Components
Cmd-click (or right-click) the “VSTPlugManager.bundle” file and select “Show package contents”.
Browse into folder Contents/Resources
Remove “VSTBridgeApp”
Close all folders, re-start Cubase.

In some cases, you might need to repair your mac’s disk permissions and repair your primary boot disk.  This can be accomplished by firstly opening the applications folder, and finding the utilities folder.  In here, select the “disk utility” application. Now click your primary disk in the left hand column, and select “repair permissions”.   This can take awhile, depending on your system and how long it’s been since you’ve done this.

To repair your primary boot disk, you’ll need to boot from your OS X install disks, and use disk utility to repair your primary disk.  This is a good thing to do from time to time, because OS X requires repair from time to time.

You should be back up and running!
