A common misconception in digital audio recording, is the proper track type to use when dealing with different types of sound sources. These include mono sources such as vocals, bass or trumpet, as well as sound sources such as synthesizers with stereo outputs, any other type of musical instrument with stereo outs, or a stereo playback device such as an Ipod, or smartphone. The problem usually arises by creating stereo tracks unintentionally when you actually need just a mono track. When this occurs, you end up with a track where you only seem to hear the audio on either the left or right side only. To avoid problems like this when creating new tracks, make sure that you either initially choose the right track format, or simply change the Channel Mode button present on each track from Stereo to Mono.
